Established in 1980 from the high school Liceo-Ginnasio “Tulliano”, it has reached its 20th competition. It is a real translation and commenting contest to which Italian and foreign students of high school final classes take part. The event which enjoys the high patronage of the Italian President lasts four days.

The competition, held in a day, is accompanied by many other cultural happenings such as meetings and conferences on Latin language and literature, seminars, concerts, exhibitions and guided tours. The final ceremony that concludes the gathering is held on Sunday morning in piazza Municipio with the prize awarding to the winner of the “Certamen”.
